Mangla Dam's victims to be compensated: minister

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Major Tahir Iqbal (Retd) said on Thursday all the affected people of "Mangla Dam upraising project" would be duly compensated and the subsidiary families will also be provided with plots and compensation money in addition to amount of rupees 12.1 billion which has been allocated, earlier.
He was talking at a meeting held with President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Zulqarnain here. Secretary Kashmir and Northern Areas (Kana) division Rasul Bakhs and a member of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) assembly Raja Yousaf were also present in the meeting in which they discussed various issues pertaining resettlement of the affected families.
It was told that 8,082 plots have been arranged for the subsidiary families and it would be ensured that water, electricity, sewerage system, infrastructure and all the other necessary facilities were provided in the colonies being constructed for the affectees.
President AJK expressed his concern over the slow pace of implementation on the projects in this regard by Wapda, which he said, is perturbing the affected people. The minister said that he would ensure that the work on the restoration projects is expedited and issued immediate instructions in this regard. It was decided that final detailed briefing on this will be held on March 29 in Mangla.
