Speakers on the IInd day of the Regional Consultation - South Asians for Human Rights (SAHR) here on Saturday deliberated on the topic of "the right to transparent governance" and called for ensuring good governance which is key to resolution of problems confronting the people in South Asian region.
Moderator Maja Daruwala from India, in her speech emphasised the need for promoting democracy in South Asia. She was of the view that problems confronting the people in South Asia cannot be resolved without empowerment of the people. She also called for creating awareness among the masses regarding protection of human rights in the region. South Asian Human Rights would launch a comprehensive campaign in this regard, she added. Other speakers said that justice could not prevail without ensuring good governance.
