Steps to promote female education prove fruitful: minister

Punjab Minister for Education, Mian Imran Masood has announced the construction of a new block of Queen Marry College Lahore at a cost of Rs 20 million.
While addressing annual convocation of the college on Monday, the minister said that steps taken by Punjab government for promotion of female education have been proved fruitful and awareness about the significance of women education has also increased. This is a very healthy sign for the development of education sector. With a view to enable the students for securing employment, new subjects have been introduced to fulfil the demands of market and industry, he added.
He further stated that government was spending Rs 70 billion on education. It is encouraging that the federal government has increased the education budget for the next financial year from 2.6 percent to 4 percent. This enhancement will result in providing additional financial resources to provinces for the uplift of education sector.
Meanwhile, he distributed role of honours and gold medals among the students for showing distinctive performance in the examination and extra-curricula activities.
Principal, Nasreen Akhtar Raza also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the students in curricular and extra-curriculum activities.
