Employees volunteer to develop HR and IT audit systems for the Layton Rahmatullah Benevolent Trust and The Citizens Foundation, while some help the Karachi Kidney Centre filter clinics to assess eligibility of welfare patients for free renal treatment
Employee support in the area of education takes the form of active involvement in teachers training, developing and implementing behavioural programs, organising summer camps and working closely with local district officers to ensure prescribed syllabus and recommended policies are adhered to at the Rahim Yar Khan Government School. This project received a merit award at the Asian CSR Awards, 2006, Philippines, in the "Support and Improvement of Education" category. Unilever employees also support the Iqra Foundation, established in 2003 at the Company's factory located in Rahim Yar Khan, to provide free education to the deserving children. Another successful employee initiative is the education drive "Fuel for the Future", at the Khanewal Tea Factory, to provide education opportunities to factory workers.
