The district bar association cancelled the membership of 25 lawyers of the PML for taking part in government-sponsored lawyers' convention in Lahore. Among the lawyers whose membership has been cancelled are Sarfraz Zia, Hamid Raza Shah, Chaudhry Salim Akhtar, Siddique Sarwar, Salim Khilji and Chaudhry Zulfiqar Sidhoo.
DBA president Akram Bathi said that notices were issued to lawyers for clearing their position, but they could not give a satisfactory reply. Chaudhry Zulfiqar Sidhoo said there was no legal validity of the DBA's action against him and other lawyers and he would challenge their decision. He said the DBA's decision was an illegal step and a contempt of court.
