Police torture on lawyers; inquiry ordered

Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Javed Iqbal has passed an order in suo motu case in Quetta against the high-handedness and brutal torture of police on advocates, said a press release on Thursday.
Following is the text of the order. "Suo motu case which is against the high-handedness and brutal torture of police on advocates a full-fledged inquiry shall be conducted by Justice Ahmed Khan Lashari, learned Pusine Judge of Balochistan High Court to fix the responsibility on delinquent Police Officers/Officials for alleged brutality and torture, ascertain its causes and suggest means and measures to avoid such incident in future. The learned Judge may evolve any procedure as may be deemed fit and proper to complete the inquiry within a period of seven days."
On court call, Tariq Masood Khoso, PPO, Rao Khan Brohi, CCOP, Government of Balochistan, K B Rind, chief secretary, Government of Balochistan, Shaukat Ali, additional secretary Home, Government of Balochistan and Sallahuddin Mengal, advocate general Balochistan appeared. M Zafar, ASC, Ehsanul Haq, ASC, Raja Rab Nawaz, ASC and Imranul Haq, ASC appeared from Lawyers side.-PR
