National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lieutenant General Shahid Aziz (retd) has asked all government departments to adopt preventive measures against corrupt practices in public sector. While addressing the 14th Director Generals Conference on Wednesday, Shahid Aziz said that NAB could only extend a helping hand in this regard.
Fair play and justice must remain the hallmark of NAB in its operations to ensure absolute transparency in the accountability drive, he said. He ordered the regional NAB chiefs to focus especially on those corruption cases, which hit common man directly. He said that awareness must be created among masses against corruption through media. The 14th Director Generals Conference was organised by NAB and attended by deputy chairman, NAB, acting prosecutor general accountability, and all the director generals of regional NABs.
The participants of the conference reviewed and deliberated on the overall success of anti corruption drive in the country. The participants also felt that there was a need to review the efforts of NAB and all other anti-corruption measures adopted by the government so as to make meaningful progress towards a corruption free society without creating imbalance in the economy and governance, sources said.
