Lawyers must wait for decision of SJC: minister

25 Mar, 2007

Minister of Law, Justice and Human Rights, Muhammad Wasi Zafar on Saturday said the government is determined to act strictly in accordance with the constitution and law. The appointment of Justice Rana Bhagwandas as Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) is yet another step forward in this direction, he said in a press statement issued here.
Wasi Zafar said the political parties trying to play with the public will badly fail as in the past. All of these parties have time and again not only showed their lack of confidence in the judiciary but were also involved in attacking it. And now in the current situation, they are badly failing in making an issue of a non-issue, he added.
Failing to find any other way in the last five or six years, they are now trying to take undue benefit of lawyers and judiciary, he said. People will never forget their past conduct and the corruption of their leaders, who are long known for malpractice's and have cheated the people time and again.
President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have given a right direction to the nation after relentless hard work. The opposition will fail in its designs, the minister said. He said now the lawyers and the Bar Associations must wait for the decision of the Supreme Judicial Council. All of them should have complete faith in the highest judicial forum.
Wasi Zafar said misconceptions intentionally spread by the opposition will not only harm the credibility of the judiciary but will also prove to be counter-productive for the country.
