25 Mar, 2007

Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Government Assurances on Saturday discussed implementation of the assurances given by the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication on the floor of the House regarding setting up of the office of divisional engineer at district Buner.
The committee met under the chairmanship of Haji Khuda Bux Nizamani, MNA in the Parliament House here. Secretary Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications informed the committee that in compliance with the assurance, a post of divisional engineer, Buner has been created under General Manager NTR-I, Peshawar.
Accordingly, he said, the MNA concerned and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs were informed that assurance has been implemented. Subsequently, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), operations department was reconstructed and in order to avoid increase in the number of posts, the existing posts were re-designated as senior engineers (maintenance), however approval of separate post for senior engineer (operations) at Buner was not granted by the PTCL board.

The committee decided to call PTA in the next meeting to register the grievances of the members, which will take up the matter with the PTCL.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Sardar Bahadur Ahmad Khan Sihar, Sher Akbar Khan, Bushra Anwar Sipra, Malik Liaquat Ali Dogar, Moulvi Muhammad Sadiq, Pervaiz Masih, Azhar Ahmad Khan Yousafzai, secretary and senior officers of the IT Ministry and Telecom.
