NWFP Minister for Auqaf Amanullah Haqqani has said that the present government was giving top priority to the promotion of health sector and that is why a record increase has been made in the developmental budget of health to provide better facilities to the masses.
This he said while addressing a urology conference "Uricon 2007" in Peshawar ON Friday night. Those who spoke on the occasion included President Pakistan Urological Surgeons, Dr Adeebul Hassan Rizvi, Dr Esa Khan, Dr Aminul Haq and Dr Attaur Rehman. The conference is being participated by renowned Urological surgeons within the country and abroad. Participants of the workshop will share their experiences and also highlight new trends in the field.
The provincial minister while addressing the conference said that present government was focusing on the development of health and education as promotion of the two sectors was indispensable for the development and prosperity of a nation. He informed that work was in full swing on upgradation of district headquarters hospitals in 22 districts of the province and work on some DHQs hospitals was in final stage also. "The aim of this initiative was to provide standard health facilities at local level" he maintained.
The provincial minister said that the long standing demand of establishing a medical university in the province was fulfilled while equipment for the kidney centre at HMC has been purchased and staff has also been also recruited for it. Similarly he said that a part from a cardiology institute work on four other mega health projects was started. The minister said that urology was an important discipline of medical field and that is why government would take all possible steps for its promotion in the province.
Dr Adeebul Hassan said that 40 percent of the patients in the country were facing with Urological problem. He demanded establishment of centre of excellence for proper development of urology in the province. Dr Esa Khan appreciated developmental steps of the government for the promotion of health sector. He also lauded government for establishment of a medical university in the province. The expert demanded ban on surgery of Urological patients by general surgeons.
