Lawyers protest against CJP suspension

The lawyers' community continued its protest against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan and observed token strike by not appearing before the courts from 10.30 to 11.30am. The Lahore High Court Bar Association, Lahore Bar Association and Adliya Bachao committee held their hunger strike camps against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan.
A number of bar members sat in the camps to express their solidarity with Chief Justice of Pakistan and demanded the revival of his constitutional position. Black flags were also hoisted on the bar buildings.
They also called upon the government to take strict action against the police officials who tortured the bar members during their peaceful protest against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Meanwhile about 30 jail inmates also sat in the hunger strike camp, in protest against the suspension of Chief Justice of Pakistan and sent a letter to District and Sessions Judge Lahore with request to send it to President of Pakistan. A delegation headed by a bar member Aftab Ahmed Bajawa visited the jail to see the jail inmates who joined the protest movement to uphold the sanctity of constitution.
