The pool 'C' game proved one-sided affair as for most of the 70 minutes of play SSGC dominated their opponents and the game was almost played in the Rawalpindi's half.
The men in orange struck the early blow in the initial minutes of the play as left-in Saleem Kahlid scored the opener for SSGC in the fifth-minute the nineteenth minute on his individual move.
From hereon the Rawalpindi put a decent defence and resisted the further ambush of their opponents, rather they came back strongly on the SSGC post but all went in vein as the SSGC team featured by national goalkeeper Salman Akbar who stood as a wall which could not be pierced.
Amongst other hockey stalwarts, who witnessed the proceedings, were former Olympians, Hanif Khan, Manzoor-ul-Hassan, Asad Malik besides the chairman of national selection committee Khalid Mahmood.
