SBP prescribes capital adequacy reporting format

27 Mar, 2007

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has prescribed the formats regarding reporting of the circulation of capital adequacy of banks/DFIs based on the parameters provided earlier on June 27, 2006. These formats primarily cover Standardised Approaches for credit and market risk and Basic Indicator and Standardised approaches for operational risk.
In a circular issued to all banks/DFIs, they are advised to submit quarterly statements on parallel circulation of their capital adequacy ratios, on consolidated as well as on standalone basis, on the enclosed formats within 30 days of the end of each calendar quarter. However, reporting for the quarters ended December 31, 2006 and March 31, 2007 will be made by April 30, 2007 and May 31, 2007 respectively.
During the period parallel run banks are also advised to continue to calculate their capital adequacy on the basis of older guidelines issued on August 25, 2004 and submit the results of both the calculations on quarterly basis.
