Hundreds of political workers held: Fakhar

Former Speaker and PPP leader Syed Fakhar Imam said that government had arrested hundreds of political workers and leaders of the opposition parties to terrify and prevent them from taking part in protest rallies. He told the BBC that the police kept him police station after arrest.
To a question the PPP leader said the protest was peaceful but the government tried to create hurdle in the protest rallies. To another question that the opposition is using Presidential reference against Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for their vested interests, he said the political parties play vital role to highlight any political issue.
The lawyer community and the opposition parties launched a protest campaign over the Presidential reference against the CJ in the Supreme Judicial Council and they want reinstatement of Iftikhar Chaudhry, he maintained.
