Senate body discusses non-payment of PhD allowance

The sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Education Wednesday examined the issue of non-payment of PhD allowance Rs 5000 per month to all persons having doctorate degrees working in various public sector organisations in the country.
The committee, met here at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Dr Muhammad, sought views from the senior representatives of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Ministry of Finance on the subject.
The committee after comprehensive discussion on the matter decided to submit its final recommendations to the main committee. The meeting was attended by Senator, Tahira Latif and Rehana Yahya Baloch, senior officials of the HEC and the Finance Ministry.
