Higher Education Commission (HEC) and British Council has decided to launch Short PhD Research Attachments (SPRA) in the United Kingdom for selected Pakistani faculty members from 50 ongoing HEC-BC Joint Higher Education Link Partner Universities.
A memorandum of understanding in this connection was signed between HEC Executive Director Professor Dr Sohail Naqvi and BC Country Head Ms Sue Beaumont at a ceremony held here on Friday at Commission Secretariat. The purpose of these partnerships with UK universities is to enhance the research and training capacity of higher education institutions in Pakistan with input and support from the UK counterparts.
Under this MoU, the research attachments funded by the BC will enable a group of selected qualified faculty members from 50 Pakistani Higher Education Link Partner institutes to undertake part of their PhD research (up to six months) at their respective link partner universities in the UK.
The HEC of Pakistan and the BC launched the Joint Higher Education Links Programme with Phase-1 establishing 15 higher education partnerships and Phase-2 another 35 partnerships. Several new courses and research initiatives are being developed through this partnership programme in Pakistan.
