President stresses prompt justice to people

President General Pervez Musharraf has emphasised the need to provide prompt and inexpensive justice to the people. He was talking to the Federal Ombudsman Javaid Sadiq Malik who called on him here on Friday and presented to him the annual report of his office for the year 2006.
The President appreciated the role of the Federal Ombudsman and said the government believes in provision of justice to the individuals without any discrimination. He also appreciated the Ombudsman for addressing peoples' complaints timely.
President Pervez Musharraf said due to its easily accessible, free of cost and prompt service at citizens' doorsteps, the institution is contributing greatly in dispensing complaints of the public and providing them justice.
Javed Sadiq Malik informed the President that the department would focus on ways to improve performance management system by establishing performance benchmark and service standards as well as by monitoring implementation of decisions. The report noted decline in terms of complaints filed with the Federal Ombudsman with 11,887 received and 8,431 disposed of during the last year.
