Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on Interior on Friday discussed the Islamabad Rental Restrictions (Amendment Bill) 2006 in detail and agreed that such a law should be framed that gives protection to the interests of both tenants and the landlords to promote a healthy relationship between them.
The meeting was held here at the Parliament House, which was attended by its convenor Niaz Ahmad Jhakkar MNA and the members Mian Mohammad Aslam MNA, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari MNA, Chaudhry Amjad Ali Warraich MNA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and a Senior Joint Secretary from Ministry of Interior while a member Rajab Ali Baloch MNA did not attend the meeting.
The meeting decided that the representatives of both tenants and the landlords should further be consulted to seek their recommendations on the issue before the committee meets again sometime after 7th of April to discuss the issue.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Mian Mohammad Aslam stressed the need that the prevailing customs being practiced in the rental issues be given a legal shape to avoid any misunderstandings between the tenants and the landlords. He said that we should admit the ground realities first and later on take any decision in this regard. He held that mediation was being practiced in rental issue since long adding it should be given a legal shape.
