Housing scams: NAB to probe government bodies' failure

31 Mar, 2007

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to look into the affairs of various regulatory bodies for their failure to prevent mega housing and financial scams. The decision has been taken in the backdrop of a number of scams in the recent past where a large number of people were deprived of their hard-earned money.
It has been decided that during inquiry/investigation of a scam the role of regulatory authority with reference to wilful failure to exercise authority to prevent such scams or disobeying the direction of law as to the way such authority is to conduct itself shall be examined, and wherever sufficient evidence is available, holder of office in such authority shall be prosecuted.-PR
