A 15-member delegation of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) led by Mian Zahid Aslam Chairman left for Gwadar today. Talking to newsmen Mian Zahid Aslam said that the inauguration of Gwadar Port has opened new vistas of industrialisation, investment and export promotion in the country.
He said that general impression is that investment and industrialisation comes only with foreign funds and expertise but the Pakistani investors and industrialists are at par with the foreigners and have the same abilities and experience in this field.
However, investment and experience work only when there is investment-friendly environment in the country. He believes discriminatory treatment is meted out to Pakistani investors vis-à-vis the foreigners. Elaborating he said that all hurdles for foreign investment are removed by the concerned authorities whereas for Pakistani investors no attractions or facilities are provided in terms of rules and regulations or procedure.
Mian Zahid Aslam said that members of his association have taken initiative to explore the opportunities available in Gwadar Industrial Zone and for establishing textile units there to promote export.
It was in this context that the delegation is setting off today for Gwadar for on-the-spot study of the facilities and incentives provided there. He pointed out that PTEA has taken lead over other organisations in this matter in the national interest to promote exports.
