LHC puts off proceedings in police torture case

After recording the statements of president Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and other lawyers, the Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the proceedings of an inquiry into the matter of police torture on lawyers and journalists till April 4.
Earlier, Secretary LHCBA Sarfraz Cheema, Senator Sardar Latif Khosa, Khurram Latif Khosa, Mirza Aleem Baig and Rana Wakeel Ahmed, a clerk of a bar member whose car burnt with tear gas shell also recorded their statements.
The prosecutor produced the list of as many as 90 witnesses and said they would present about 10 prosecution witnesses including CCPO, Lahore, SSP (Operations) Lahore, SSP (Investigations) Model Town division, SP Civil Lines division, PRO to CCPO, Lahore and SHOs of different police stations.
