US officials, Aurakzai discuss Fata situation

A four-member US Congress delegation, led by John Tierney, called on NWFP Governor Lieutenant General Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai (Retd) at Governor's House here, on Monday. The Congressmen team discussed with the governor matters of common interest and the prevailing situation in Fata with particular emphasis on law and order and development activities in the area.
The governor briefed the delegation in detail about the current situation and future strategy for settlement of Afghan crisis. The latest clashes between the local tribesmen and foreign militants in Wana sub-division also came under discussion.
Evaluating the overall situation, the governor informed the visiting delegation that Fata was experiencing a turbulent situation after 9/11 incident where after certain militants of foreign origin sneaked into the tribal areas of the country and created great difficulties for the local administration and the people.
