People trying to shield bogus trade bodies opposing TOO: KCCI

03 Apr, 2007

The government is sincere in promulgating the Trade Organisations Ordinance, 2006, and only a few people are against it for protecting bogus trade associations, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry spokesman said on Monday.
He said that there is no reason to alter the Ordinance, because FPCCI was a member of the Task Force on the Ordinance and he approved the contents of Ordinance on behalf of the entire business community.
The KCCI spokesman said, "The Ordinance was promulgated by the government to streamline the system and to regulate the functioning of various trade organisations to lift the image of the country's apex trade body world-wide."
A former chairman of FPCCI standing committee on public relations, Obaidullah Qadri, while supporting the TOO-2006, said that the promulgation of the law showed President Musharraf's sincerity towards economic development of the country.
