After starting its transmission from America in 2006, UK is the 53rd country from which PTV has started its transmission, which would help to develop soft image of Pakistan. The channel will be a mix of entertainment, information, news, current affairs, religious programmes and documentaries for a million overseas Pakistanis living in UK.
The channel would also be watched in Europe, PTV reported. Managing Director PTV Ashraf Azeem said, it would serve as a link between the Pakistanis living abroad and UK. He said the credit goes to the whole staff of PTV as due to their concerted efforts PTV transmission is now available in America, UK and Europe.
Secretary Information Syed Anwar Mahmood said, the launch of PTV Global in UK would fulfil a longstanding demand of the Pakistani community living abroad. Pakistani High Commissioner in UK Maleeha Lodhi said, Pakistanis living in UK had described the beaming of PTV signal in UK as a great gift from the government.
