Businessmen urged to make country prosperous

The potential businessmen should contribute more for accelerating the ongoing massive infrastructure development activities in the country, Secretary General Revenue Division, Chairman Central Board of Revenue (CBR) M Abdullah Yousuf said.
Talking to a private TV channel he said allocations of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) have already been increased up to Rs 415 billion from Rs 100 billion a couple of years ago. There is dire need is to enhance it further aiming to bring the country at par with rest of the world.
There are 1.2 million retailers in the country while returns are being filed by only 32,000 retailers. The number will have to be expanded for the betterment and benefit of the country. There are some other sectors needing enhanced contribution for progress and prosperity of the country.
The tax collection system of the CBR is being made more efficient and transparent in a bid to achieve tax collection targets of Rs 835 billion. A hefty growth of 25 percent has been recorded in the overall tax collection during the last few months of the current financial year.
