Loadshedding duration reduced

05 Apr, 2007

KESC has reduced the duration of loadshedding to one hour in the city as Wapda has increased the power supply from 300 mw to 450 mw. However power shortage of 150 mw still exists as the city demand has risen to 2100 mw. Earlier Wapda was providing 650 mw.
KESC's Chief spokesman informed on Wednesday in a statement that after the improvement of power supply position from Wapda, KESC has reduced the duration of ongoing one and half hour loadshedding to one hour during peak hours of day and evening.
It may be mentioned that on April 2, at about 9 am the National Power Control Center (NPCC) Islamabad all of a sudden restricted KESC to obtain only 300 mw electricity from Wapda instead of 650 mw by passing an order to utility's load dispatch centre (LDC) simultaneously shutting down the Jamshoro circuit. KESC had no choice but to follow the instructions of NPCC because Wapda had put off Karachi-Jamshoro circuit.
He said that KESC has been making all efforts to obtain more power from Water and Power Development Authority to stop load shedding.-PR
