'Next census to be conducted in 2008'

National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Wednesday was informed that the next census would be conducted in 2008. Rasheed Akbar Khan, Member National Assembly and Chairman Standing Committee on Economic Affairs presided over the meeting.
The representatives of Statistics Division gave a comprehensive briefing on Statistics Division and its budget allocation and expenditure of last five years.
The committee examined the budget allocation and made certain queries in this regard. The representative of Statistics Division apprised the committee about the reasons in which the budget allocation varied year to year.
The committee discussed in details about the expenditure incurred by Statistics Division and its attached departments and directed that details of vehicles and other items auctions previously may be given in next meeting.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan, Members National Assembly Akram Masih Gill, Pir Muhammad Shah Khagga, Israrul Ebad Khan, Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali, Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, Sabir Hussain Awan, Shakeela Kanam Rashid, Maulana Abdul Malik Wazir and Asadullah Bhutto.
