Self-employment programme: Punjab offers Rs 5 million loans

Punjab Minister for Power Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani has said that in the light of the Chief Minister's Vision 2020, the government will meet the target of weeding out unemployment in the province at any cost.
Talking to a six-member delegation of farmers in his office here on Friday, the minister said that the government, under Self Employment Programme (SEP), had offered loans of Rs 5 million in the sectors of dairy farming, livestock farming, poultry farming and fish farming, which is a great step towards eradication of unemployment. He said that SEP had enabled the government to disburse Rs 5.17 billion for 63,352 projects of small and medium size enterprises during the last two and a half years.
He said the government had provided employment to 182,824 youth uptill now. He urged farmers to get benefit from government measures taken for increasing the ratio of employment in the province and contact district livestock officer for further assistance.
The minister said that the government would disburse Rs 2.25 billion in the current fiscal year to providing employment to the 86,400 youth in the province.
