Speaker of Iranian parliament (Majlis) Dr Ghulam Ali Haddad Adil, has expressed the hope that relations between Pakistan and Iran would be further strengthened in the days to come. He stated this while talking to the Acting Punjab Governor, Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal Sahi here at Governor's House on Friday.
Chairman Senate, Mohammed Mian Soomro, members of the visiting Iranian parliamentary delegation and Iranian diplomats were also present on the occasion.
Dr Haddad Adil thanked the Pakistan government and people for extending hospitality to him and other members of the delegation. He added that he and his delegation would always cherish their memorable visit to Pakistan, which coincided with the spring season and Eid Milad Un Nabi (SAW).
Welcoming the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Acting Governor said that the relations between Iran and Pakistan were deeply rooted in shared faith, history, heritage and culture, adding that these were strengthening with the passage of time.
He appreciated Iranian government for extending unprecedented co-operation in the relief and rescue operations in the wake of devastating earthquake in October 2005. He said that the government under the leadership of President Pervez Musharraf had been able in attaining a turnaround in national economy. He said that Pakistan with a 160 million population, was not only self sufficient in food production but also exporting the agricultural stuff. This was only due to strong agriculture base in the country, he added.
