Naib Nazim urges students to fight extremism

City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil has called upon students to fight growing extremism in the country, adding that they could play a pivotal role to discourage such sentiments by educating the public. Speaking as chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony of Student Council 2007 at Defence Authority College for Women on Friday.
She said that from the student age, democratic consciousness was the source of empowerment of the democratic societies in the world. On the occasion, Director Education DHA Brigadier Muzaffarul Hassan (Retd) and College Principal, Dr Tayaaba Mamoon was also present. She urged the common men to get themselves acquainted with their social rights and duties, saying that freedom of expression was the essence of democracy.
Nasreen said that provision of facilities at all academic institutions were the prime responsibility of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) and were on its priority to ensure them along with the healthcare facilities to general public in the metropolis.
She pointed out that CDGK had held an important videoconference amongst the London and Karachi schools with a view to wise them of one another academic atmosphere so that students from both the countries could know much beyond their academic activities.
