Four policemen suspended

Four policemen were suspended for replacing the new impounded motorcycle of a trader and allegedly beating him up when he demanded the return of his own. Ghulam Nabi, the brother of a local councillor was going from Liaqatpur to Khan Bela on his new motorbike when he was stopped by the police in Aminabad area and his vehicle confiscated for lack of a number plate.
Later, on the intervention of a community leader he was given the motorbike and he rode off on his work. On realising that he was given a well used 2-wheeler he returned and demanded his own bike, but was allegedly locked up, abused and beaten up by some police staffers.
Trade leaders of Liaqatpur led by Rana Ahmed, City Nazim Rashid Rafiq, local councillors and citizens took out a protest procession against the alleged police high-handedness, on which DSP Liaqatpur, Riaz Gillani and SP Rao Salim Akhtar suspended an ASI Mehr Zahoor, Head Constable Mushtaq Ahmed, Rao Anwar and Asif.
