Multan Bar cancels membership of 16 lawyers

The District Bar Multan has cancelled the membership of 16 lawyers, including a female, for participating in the Lawyers' convention organised by the Punjab government. "We have expelled the black sheep from our ranks who had made abortive attempt to stab in the back of legal fraternity," Mumtaz Hussain Tangra, Multan Bar General Secretary, said on Wednesday.
JUDGE RESIGNS: Earlier on Tuesday, Qazi Waqar Hussain, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Bhakkar, was reportedly called to Lahore, tendered his resignation in protest over the recent judicial crisis concerning Chief Justice "and taking unlawful and unconstitutional step by the present regime".
"I have taken this decision according to my conscience, and it is not part of publicity, and now I will join the lawyers' struggle for saving the judicial system," he told newsmen.
"I met District and Sessions judge Atta-ullah Kasur, who is my immediate boss, and tendered my resignation, who dispatched it to the Registrar of Lahore High Court. He said he had tendered his resignation to protest the manhandling of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He said he was expressing his support for the country's current judicial crisis.
