Building of another Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Model School, being constructed at a cost of Rs 92 million on a 23 kanal piece of land at E-Block Johar Town, would be completed by June 30. Lahore District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood, who is also ex-officio chairman of the LDA, said.
While talking to Nazism of union councils, councillors and notables here on Tuesday, disclosed an official. Amer maintained that construction work of blocks I and II of the school had already been completed, the remaining 20 percent work of construction of Block III of the school would also be accomplished by the end of June.
"Academic activity from nursery to matriculation classes would commence in the month of September, at the start of new academic calendar," he added. According to him, facilities for imparting education up to O-level classes would also be provided in this school at a later stage. With covered area of over 100,000 square feet, the school building would consist of 52 classrooms.
Each classroom would have a capacity for 45 students and as many as 2,400, students would be admitted in this school. He said that eight laboratories, two each for teaching the subjects of computer, physics, chemistry and biology, had been constructed along with two libraries under this project.
He averred that orders for procurement of furniture for the school at a cost of rupees two million had already been placed. "Another Rs 2.5 million would be spent for this purpose during the new fiscal year," he added.
