Phata directed to submit comprehensive action plan

Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Syed Raza Ali Gillani has directed the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (Phata) to submit a comprehensive action plan to declare 10 kilometre area adjacent to big cities as "controlled area."
He gave these directions while presiding over a high level meeting in his office here on Tuesday. Director General Phata, Shehzad Jamil and other concerned officers also attended the meeting. The Minister said a number of unplanned and mushroom housing societies were causing problems in adjacent areas of big cities of the province including Lahore. Due to these unplanned societies, traffic and environmental problems are increasing day by day, he added.
Syed Raza Ali Gillani said the government was keen to provide international standard residential facilities to the people for which, it is necessary to discourage the unplanned and mushroom residential societies in the outskirts of big cities. He further directed to prepare a strategy for the establishment of new housing schemes so that modern and latest civic amenities could be provided to the residents of small and big cities on equal basis.
