Four brothers, Khuda Bakhsh, Muhammad Asghar, Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Iqbal were hanged in new Central Jail Multan on Tuesday morning. Jail Superintendent Mubashar Malik said," four brothers who were involved in killing 13 persons of a family were hanged on Tuesday early in the morning in the presence of local magistrate and a medical officer."
Their father died in the prison during the trial of the court and their brother Muhammad Akbar was acquitted by the court in an appeal giving him benefit of doubt.
Jail authorities said that Allah Ditta wanted to sell out 173 Kanal (21.5 acre) of land but his brothers opposed him. Upon this, he and his five sons slaughtered 13 persons including Haji Hidayatullah, Abdul Majid and Haji Bashir Ahmed sons of Shah Muhammad, five women, two children and three other members of their families including an infant of only three month with chopper on April 15,1999 in Serai Sidhu (Khanewal) some 80 km east of Multan.
District and Session Judge Khanewal has awarded them death sentence 13 count on January 26,2000. Their appeal against the judgement of Session Court was rejected by High court on February 7,2005 and then their appeal was rejected by Supreme Court of Pakistan on August 3rd, 2005 and their clemency appeal was turned down by the President of Pakistan on December 28, 2006.
They had tried for reconciliation with the Allah Rakha (13) and Rafia bibi (11) but Lahore High Court Multan Bench declined to accept it on April 16 and ordered to implement on the black warrant. Their bodies were handed over to their mother Ghulam Bibi and brother Muhammad Akbar.
Ghulam Bibi told newsmen that Haji Hidayatullah and other brothers sent Allah Ditta for performing Hajj. In his absence they grabbed the 173 kanal of land fraudulently. When he returned and he demanded to return his land then not only refused to return the land but also gave him severe beating.
