Service Bar Association President and renowned service lawyer, Haider Hussain expressed deep concern regarding non-functional of the Federal Service Tribunal all over Pakistan due to expiry of the tenure of the outgoing Chairman, former Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Arif.
In a press statement on Thursday, he said that thousands of service appeals were pending before the FST due to which the civil servants face extreme hardships in the timely finalisation of their appeals. He said that this had been practice of the government to delay the appointment of the FST Chairman.
The appointment of the outgoing chairman was done after a considerable delay of more than four months. It was irony that such an important Tribunal had been made frequently non-functional, the statement added. The delayed appointment of FST Chairman is not only adversely affecting the litigant civil servants but also creating problems for the lawyers.
Haider Hussain has demanded of the government to immediately appoint new Chairman, FST and also make necessary amendments in the procedure rules providing senior most member to act as chairman as a stopgap arrangement till the appointment of regular chairman.-PR
