A number of opposition members of the National Assembly have posted an adjournment notice to the Speaker protesting 'that the Islamabad administration had closed all the roads leading to the capital city from other provinces' and 'arrested persons who tried to go to the capital city.'
Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Pervez Ashraf, Mrs Naheed Khan, Mehreen Anwar Raja, Syed Nayyer Bokhari, Dr Fahmida Mirza, Khwaja M. Asif, Perviz Malki, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmad, Imtiaz Safdar, Saad Rafiq, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman, and Zamurrad Khan have signed the adjournment notice.
The members also state that such an act was unconstitutional, unethical and unlawful and caused concern among the public, calling for a discussion on the floor of the House. Another notice, a calling attention notice, was posted on Wednesday complaining that Pakistan had suffered a horrible defeat in the World Cup. The notice has been signed by MNAs Fauzia Wahab, Yasmeen Rahman, Tasneem Qureshi and Zamurrad Khan.
