Pakistan batsman Younis Khan, who rejected an offer to captain the national team this month, was not named in a list of probables for a one-day series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. New chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said Younis has still to confirm his availability for next month's three-match series.
"He is not included in the shortlist of players for the training camp as we are still waiting for his availability," he told Reuters on Sunday.
Younis turned down the offer of captaincy from the Pakistan Cricket Board after Inzamam-ul-Haq quit following their dismal World Cup performance. Younis said he was under too much stress and pressure after the torrid reception given to the players on their return from the West Indies. The board appointed young all-rounder Shoaib Malik as captain.
