67 tax facilitation centers to be set up

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has decided to establish 67 Tax Facilitation Centres (TFCs) at different locations under the Tax Administration Reform Programme (TARP). Sources told Business Recorder on Monday that 22 TFCs would be established at CBR owned buildings in the first phase.
The board would purchase new land for construction of another 45 TFCs in the next stage. The new locations have been approved by the board-in-council meeting.
Sources said that the board has constituted a team comprising officials of CBR Tax Policy and Reform Wing and Direct Taxes Wing to visit the proposed buildings of TFCs from April 24, 2007. The team would check the building space for proper utilisation and identify buildings having poor construction.
In the first phase, the TFC would be located at the following locations: Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Nowshera, Mahsehra, Jehlum, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal, Gurumander, Nipa Chaurangi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Larakana, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Dadu, Nawabshah, Sanghar and Hub.
In the second phase, the TFC would be located at the following locations: D.I. Khan, Sawabi, Charsada, Haripur, Attock, Chakwal, Wah Cannt, Pind Dadan Khan, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Pindi Bhattian, Sargodha, Joharabad, Jhang, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana, Chunian, Kala Shah Kaku, Daska, Norowal, Gujrat, Sambrial, Okara, Khanewal, D.G. Khan, Ranjapur, Muzaffargarh, Rahimyar Khan, Sadiqabad, Vehari, Burewala, Layyah, Ahmedpur East, Khanpur, Chistian, Lodhran, Ghotki, Sibbi and Gwadar.
