Troops return from Liberia

28 Apr, 2007

The last batch of 250 Pakistani troops arrived here on Friday after successful completion of the task of restoring peace, order and rehabilitation of infrastructure in their area of responsibility under the auspices of the United Nations in Liberia as peacekeepers.
This was announced in an ISPR press release issued here on Friday. It said that Brigadier Tariq Ghafoor welcomed the troops on their arrival at the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport. The ISPR press release further pointed out that with the arrival of the troops, the process of relief and repatriation for UN Mission in Liberia has been completed.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is the single largest contributor of troops in United Nations Peace Missions and Pakistani troops have earned a repute of being highly dedicated and professional peacekeepers through their commitment to the global peace, sheer professionalism and relief and reconstruction activities in the war stricken countries.
