UVAS celebrates World Veterinary Day

The faculty and the students of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore observed World Veterinary Day on Saturday. The Vets Care Club of the university arranged a seminar in the university auditorium to mark the day.
Teachers and students of the university and practicing veterinarians attended the event in large numbers. This year the theme of the day was "Celebrate our Diversity".
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz spoke about the diversity of veterinary profession. He said that the objective of celebrating the day was to highlight the diversity of veterinary profession. The veterinarians are playing their role in public and private sectors for food security and safety, public health and environment.
The anticipated role is in biological and transgenic sciences to meet the national needs of vaccines and diagnostics. He emphasised on selection of best breeds of animals, nutrition of livestock, preventive medication (disease prevention) and marketing for development of livestock sector.
