Lawyers protest enter 42nd day

Saturday marked day 42 of the lawyers' ongoing token hunger strike and a court boycott that began after 10:30am to protest the suspension of the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Lawyers pitched hunger strike camps: two at High Court Multan Bench, District Bar Association.
All two camps remained crowded from 9am to 3pm. Civilian attended the hunger strike camp at the LHC premises and expressed their solidarity with the lawyers. The visitors also threw rose petals at the portrait of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan's nuclear bomb, placed on a chair at the camp against his 1160-day house arrest.
In the Bar premises, lawyers continued throughout the day to raise anti-Musharraf and anti-government slogans besides demanding withdrawal of the reference and the restoration of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to his office as Chief Justice of Pakistan. Prominent lawyers who attended the camp were Muhammad Akram Bhatti Bar Association president, Habib-ullah Shakir, HCBA president, Rana Naveed Akhtar, Babur Soekarno.
