29 Apr, 2007

City Nazim Lahore has said that the city government will install 10 new tubewells next month and by June 30, nine more tube-wells would be added to the existing number of 403 tubewells. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting to review the progress of water and sanitation.
Wasa Managing Director Pervaiz Iftikhar, Deputy MD (Operations) Saeed Haroon Shah and other senior officials were present on the occasion. The meeting was informed that at present, 403 tubewells were operating in the city, which were working for 66 to 18 hours daily and providing 350 million gallons of water to the citizens of Lahore. Moreover, during the current fiscal year, 40 new tubewells were installed while installation of 19 new tubewells is in progress.
It was also told in the meeting that in areas where load shedding takes place, it takes around three hours to create water pressure in a tubewell. So, in such areas tubewells would work during nights as well. Moreover, chlorination of all tubewells in the city is also underway. However, complaints relating to water pollution can be reported at Wasa Central Complaint Cell through phone numbers 5752483 and 5764545.
