Provincial Minister for Industries Muhammad Ajmal Cheema has said that work on a comprehensive strategy to promote the small and cottage industries on modern lines has been started and in this regard four Common Facility Centres in Punjab having modern machinery would be completed by the end of this year.
While presiding over a high level meeting of Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC), the minister said that one Common Facility Centre is being set up in Lahore at Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate. He further said that there were 1200 cottage industries in Sargodha. The government is also setting up show-rooms for furniture up in Chiniot, Gujrat and Karachi so that traders coming from abroad could place their export orders on the same show-room.
About the Common Facility Centres he said they would work under the supervision of PSIC and after one year these centres would be handed over to the concerned chambers of commerce and trade organisations.
