KWSB approves Rs 1.82 billion projects

Development Working Party of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), which met under the chair of Managing Director of Board Brigadier Iftikhar Haider, has approved Rs1.826billion water and sewerage projects for different parts of the city.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Engineer Karachi, Taameer Karachi Programme Mashkoorul Hasnain, Chief Engineer Bulk Water Supply Ali Mohammad Palijo, Chief Engineer Zone 11-B Mohammad Arif, Chief Engineer Electrical and Mechanical Gulzar Memon, Chief Engineer Infrastructure and Water Training Asodo Mal and Chief Engineer Infrastructure Sewerage Wajid Iqbal Siddiqui.
A 48-inch new water pipeline worth Rs220 million was approved for Manzoor Colony, Akhtar Colony and its adjoining areas. The funds would be provided by Asian Development Bank (ADB).
A pumping set of 125 horsepower costing Rs5 million was also approved for 5-A, 5-B and 5-C areas of Landhi Town. KWSB would provide 50 percent funds for this project while remaining would be afforded by Town Administration.
Damaged sewerage pipelines of 27 and 33-inch radius would be replaced at Tariq Road in Jamshed Town with cost Rs52 million. A project worth Rs20 million had been approved to change the damaged sewerage pipelines of 18, 22 and 24 inches near Lucky Star Hotel in Jamshed Town.
Rs30 million had been approved for a project to change the damaged water pipelines of 3 to 10 inches in different union councils of Liaquatabad and Nazimabad No, 1, 2, 3 and 4 areas.
A project costing Rs99 million was approved to change RCC and damaged pipelines of 15 to 18 inches radius in A, B, B-I and C-I regions and their adjoining areas in Liaquatabad Town.
A project worth Rs1 billion was also approved to lay water pipelines of 24 and 48-inch radius at areas between Hub Dam to Baldia Town and Hawks Bay and Organgi Town. Sindh government would provide funds for this project.
A project worth Rs46 million was approved to lay a new water pipeline of 24-inch radius from Sarjani Chowrangi to Allahwali Chowk in New Karachi Town. Asian Development Bank would provide funds for this project.
The damaged sewerage trunk of radius 72-inch to be changed from Shaheen Complex to Clifton Pumping Station. This project would cost Rs133 million. The funds would be provided by Asian Development Bank.
A project costing Rs70 million has been approved to lay a new sewer trunk of 72-inch radius from Bath Island to Clifton in Saddar Town. A pipeline of 48-inch radius would be laid from Old Sabzbi Mandi to Kashmir Road. This project would cost Rs80 million.
A pipeline of 18 radius would be laid in Federal Trunk Main (FTM) in Site Town. The cost of project is estimated at 8 million. Rs8 million would be spent to install 500KVA Diesel Generating Set at Ghaziabad Pumping Station in Orangi Town.
Rs33 million would be spent for water main of 18-inch radius in Lalabad in Landhi. Rs20 million would be spent for changing damaged water pipelines in Ram Swami and Rinchhore Line.
