Sindh Finance Department has released Rs 2.26 billion to be distributed among 23 districts in accordance with the formula devised for Provincial Financial Award, it is learnt on Tuesday.
On the special instructions of adviser to the chief minister on finance, M. A. Jalil, this release has been made to accommodate demands of nazims from different districts who had been calling on him from time to time.
He said that this release would be spent strictly on ongoing development projects, which were nearing completion. It has been made clear that the funds would be neither re-appropriated nor kept in suspense account for future use. The release of funds would facilitate completion of projects and clear liabilities of the district governments.
