Federal government has approved Rs 458 million for provision of water supply and improving the drainage facilities in 55 villages of Taunsa affected due to construction of Chashma Right Bank Canal.
The project was forwarded by the Ministry of Water and Power and formally approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) couple of days ago. The project, which takes two years for its completion has also included Rs 361.82 million Asian Development loans.
According to the details the Chashma Right Bank Canal phase III has been constructed in Tehsil Taunsa, District Dera Ghazi Khan. During the construction a number of water supply schemes have been damaged, which is creating lot of problems for the villagers. The sources said that construction of permanent linear structures has also divided the areas and created hindrances in easy excess to available sources.
The projects is aimed at mitigating such damages and to provide drinking water facility to the deprived villages in order to improve the healthcare facilities in affected areas.
