Swiss franc pulls back from new euro lows

03 May, 2007

The Swiss franc edged back from multi-year lows against the euro and ticked down against the dollar on Wednesday ahead of key Swiss economic data. Markets have kept the franc under steady pressure as a cheap funding currency for investments in higher-yielding currencies.
The franc strengthened slightly against the euro to 1.6502 francs per euro, slightly off a 8-1/2 year low at 1.6535 hit on May 1. Against the dollar, the franc was slightly weaker at 1.2148 per dollar, edging away from a year-high of 1.1997 hit on April 25.
