I am delighted to learn that the Central Board of Revenue is holding this National Conference on Tax Administration Reforms Program. Since the inception of this Government, tax reforms were at the top of our agenda.
Besides other inevitable reforms in the public sector, it was the need of time to begin reform process in our taxation system. It was for this reason, that from the very onset, the Government resolved to revolutionise the tax system. Thus in order to serve this purpose, tax administration reforms process was started to explore the best possibilities and policies for the modern and up-to-date taxation system.
This National Conference on Tax Administration Reforms Program is a great opportunity to share the leading-edge information on reforms process. This conference will help chalk out the future taxation system by defining the role of taxpayers and tax collectors.
It will not only enable us to design the methodology for building an ideal atmosphere of mutual trust and confidence among all the stakeholders but also provide us an opportunity to appraise the process and achievements of Tax Administration Reforms Program and evaluate the problems of corporate sector towards the new taxation system and implement a trade and business friendly tax policy.
I congratulate the entire team of CBR, especially the chairman CBR, on introducing a modern, integrated and taxpayer friendly tax culture in Pakistan which is contributing towards progress and prosperity of Pakistan. CBR also deserves special appreciation for revenue collection efforts, outstanding performance and on holding of this National Conference on Tax Administration Reforms Program.
