I congratulate Central Board of Revenue on organising National Conference on Tax Administration Reforms Program in collaboration with the corporate sector. It is indeed an exemplary effort to build mutual trust between taxpayers and tax collectors and to create better understanding of the reforms process by bringing them together on one platform.
Government of Pakistan has been very keen to implement its reforms agenda especially in the economic sector and time has been witnessing the success of our dynamic policies as Pakistan has joined the comity of the fastest growing economies of the world. On the way of economic boom, we are expecting over 7 percent growth and the results will come up to our expectations, Insha Allah.
In this connection, I must appreciate the efforts of CBR officials who have been doing an excellent job in the implementation of Tax Administration Reforms Program. It is a matter of great pride for all of us that today our net revenue collections stand at Rs 649 billion against Rs 547 billion in 2006. This robust increase of 18.6% in the revenue collection is a testimony of restoration of taxpayers' confidence in CBR and the on-going tax administration reforms process.
We have come a long way and the world today sees us poised to dare the challenges of future. I believe that the event will play a pivotal role in creating a sense of ownership among the valued taxpayers and to share their ideas and vision on making the reforms process an illustrious success. Instrumental is this day, this happening - I wish CBR and everyone who are part of these reforms, all the best.
